    than 50 employees

  • businesses with an annual turnover
    over 10 million Euro

  • cities and municipalities with
    more than 10.000 inhabitants

WHAT IT IS ABOUT

The German Federal Ministry of Justice has presented a draft law to implement the EU Directive on the Protection of Whistle-blowers, which will come into force on December 17, 2021.

Businesses as well as municipalities and their subordinate authorities will be obliged to set up an anonymous and secure reporting channel for whistle-blowers.

Whistle-blowers are encouraged to refrain from reporting to supervisory authorities or the public media. Through the internal reporting channel, the affected legal entities will protect whistle-blowers from reprisals and at the same time promote a trust-based workplace culture.
